Day 57: Church and Killer Shoes!

Top: Banana Republic
Slacks: Target
Shoes: Rampage
Jewelry: Purchased from Ingrid's Jewelers (bracelet, ring and necklace)
Watch: Fossil

The title is 'Church and Killer Shoes', because I thought these shoes were going to kill me!  A few years ago I had surgery on both of my knees (the surgeries were 11 months apart from each other). Ever since then, I have had a hard time walking in heels and honestly, probably shouldn't be wearing them at all.  But, I love heels and where them whenever I can.  Today though, with all the rain and the arthritis in my knees acting up (yes, I know, I am old) I had a really hard time walking in these shoes.  I didn't keep them on for very long and before church was even over, I gave them away to my BGF (best German friend) Tina.  She can rock some high heels!  In fact she wore platform silver glitter heels to church today.  We don't normally wear the same size shoe, buy lucky for her, these fit.  They weren't my favorite shoes anyways so I am glad they are in a home where they will be loved (and worn).

I'm not normally a big fan of wrap tops or dresses (solely because half the time I can't figure them out).  This top is easy, comfy and colorful.  I've had it for years and hardly ever wear it because it makes my boobs look ginormous!  Ugh!  Oh well, I guess God gave me these for a reason:).

The ring was a gift from my husband.  I had this ring (blue diamonds fyi) on lay-a-way for a few months, but felt bad for spending so much money, so I had it taken off lay-a-way.  Of course Jason bought it for me for Christmas which totally shocked me!  He is so sweet.  He bought the matching necklace and gave it to me at his Change of Command (sorry, Army talk).  He gave it to me for supporting him while he was in command.

The bracelet was a gift from Mrs. Ingrid of Ingrid's Jewelers.  She is the sweetest lady ever!!!  If you're ever in Daleville, AL stop by and see her.

Day 56: Rainy Day At Home

Top: TJ Maxx, Limited brand (gray)
Jeggings: JCP (black)
Tank: Target (black)

I had planned on leaving my house and going to the grocery store today.  However, with all the rain that we have been having (and are still having) I decided to stay home.  I figure the grocery store can wait until after church tomorrow.

I love bead work and this top doesn't disappoint!

I surprised myself and wore this outfit most of the day before I changed into my favorite sweat pants and tank top:)

Day 55: Busy Building My Ark:)

Tank: Target (black and white)
Cardi: Banana Republic (purple)
Jeans: Lucky Brand, purchased from Dandy Lion Boutique
Boots: Bongo, purchased from Sears (brown)
Necklace: Charming Charlie (peacock)
Belt: Purchased from goodwill (brown with gold studs)
Watch: Philip Stein
Earrings: Gift

It has rained sooooooo much this summer that I am starting to believe lower Alabama is becoming a rain forrest.  We have had heavy rain for days now (that is why I am building an ark:).  I was out and about today car shopping.  I had to stand outside a lot today and needed to wear something that would keep my somewhat dry (while still looking cute!).

I would've never thought I'd have to be wearing boots, jeans and long sleeves in the summer time in the deep South, but today I had to.

I was in a hurry, so I threw this outfit together very quickly.  Every piece spoke to me today and I knew that it would all look great together.

This belt is super long!  I love to wear belts and I love to loop them in fun ways.  This is my favorite way to wear a belt.
Tip: Next time you shop Goodwill, check out their belts.  Even if a belt is way too long for you, just loop it around like I did today.  You can check out Pinterest for lots of different ways to loop your belts!

Day 54: July 4th Celebration

Top: Purchased from Dandy Lion Boutique (red and white)
Shorts: Purchased from Dillard's Outlet (navy blue)
Shoes: Old Navy (gold)
Bracelet and Earrings: Purchased from Dandy Lion Boutique

I tried my best to look Patriotic today, but I came across looking very nautical.  I'll let you judge for yourself:

Maybe it's the boat shoes that push this outfit way over to the nautical side;)  With as much rain as we have been having here, I feel like I will soon need a boat to get around in.

I was able to spend the day with my very close friends; the Tucker's and the Tressler's and I made some new friends; the Jenkins' (I apologize if any of my punctuation is wrong:).  When you are in the Army, your friends become your family.  Some become closer than family sometimes.  That is the Army way and I love it!!!

Day 53: Cuffed Skinny Jeans, Day 2

Top: Ross (brown)
Jeans: LOFT, Purchased from a friend
Sandals: TJ Maxx
Bracelet: Purchased from Charming Charlie
Necklace: Burke's Outlet

Yes, I am wearing the same jeans I wore yesterday.  I will often re-wear pants during the week until the baby spits-up on them or one of the dogs gets mud on me.  Plus, it has been raining here all day (more like a monsoon!!!) and I wanted to stay warm indoors and cool outdoors.

I LOVE a pair of dark wash jeans!!!

See all the water on my porch?  It is crazy, the amount of water we have received today alone.  I believe it was around 5 inches.  Needless to say, the Fourth of July Festival for Fort Rucker was cancelled today.  No fireworks for us this year:(

This little necklace came from Burkes Outlet.  Who doesn't love a turtle?!  Burke's is kind of like a more discounted (cheaper) version of TJ Maxx.  It is VERY hit or miss.  I have gone in before and found great pieces of jewelry, like this one.  Other times I go in and there is hardly any jewelry.  They also carry clothing and although I have never found any clothes for myself there yet, I have several friends who have found great items for themselves.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to wear my planned July 4th outfit!  I'm sure I'll be stuck indoors all day (more like all week, we are expecting rain everyday for a while) tomorrow enjoying the 4th with friends.

I'd also like to take this time to thank all of our Veterans for their sacrifice and service.  As an Army Spouse myself, I know the daily struggles faced by our Veterans.  May we never forget where we have been, where we are and how we can make our future better for generations to come.

Day 52: Dots and Stripes

Top: Purchased from The Fort Rucker Thrift Shop (navy blue and cream)
Jeans: LOFT (bought off a friend)
Flip flops: GAP (yellow)
Watch: Fossil (silver)

This top had shoulder pads in it when I initially bought it.  As fabulous as shoulder pads are, I promptly removed them when I got the top home.  I wouldn't doubt for a minute that this top had matching pants at one point (how awesome would that be???).

I rolled the bottom of my jeans for a more summery look.  I tried to do the whole half tuck and it does, in fact, look as ridiculous in person as it does on Pinterest!  Oh well!

Nate decided to be a part of the blog today:)  I love this little guy!!!

Day 51: Max-ed Out

Dress:  Mossimo Supply Co, Purchased from Goodwill (black and turquoise)
Sandals: Old Navy (black)
Earrings: Maurices (turquoise and gold)
Anchor Earrings: Gift (gold)
Necklace: Tiffany (silver)
Bracelets: Gaudy Me Boutique
Bandeau Bra: Purchased from amazon.com (turquoise)

Today was a great day (for a Monday anyways:).  My oldest had his braces removed (YAY!!!).  I took all the kids to eat and then we ran a few errands around town.  I lost my sunglasses yesterday at the movie theater, so I had to visit TJ Maxx to buy new ones.  I'm a little notorious for losing or breaking sunglasses so I'm not going to spend too much money on them anymore.  Especially, not after my son stepped on a broke my Ray Bans and someone snatched my Coach sunglasses right out of my purse.  As a matter of fact, my sunglasses were stolen yesterday after I left them in the bathroom.  They weren't cheap either and had been a Christmas gift from my husband:(.

Anyways, the point is that I was able to go to TJ Maxx and buy my sunglasses and leave.  I did browse the racks just to see what is out (I call it trend hunting), but I didn't find anything I couldn't live without.

Tip: Wear Bandeau bras when you have clothing that is too low cut.  I bought several colors online at amazon.com for around $5 each.  They also adds a little bit of extra support for holding up a strapless bra (you busty gals know what I'm talking about;)

I love these little anchor earrings that my sweet husband bought for me.  He knows I love anchors (and jewelry).

My photographer today was my 5 year old.  I'm sorry if some of the pictures are blurry and very off center.  I just couldn't bring myself to crop them all or tell him they weren't good.  He was so proud of his work.

Obviously, it is raining here.  We've had rain most days this summer.  Crazy!!!

I bought this dress at Goodwill (oh how I miss thee).  I didn't know until after I bought it, that it was ripped at the bottom and one strap was being attached to the rest of the dress with a safety pin.  Lucky for me, I have a great friend who sews and she fixed it right up for me.

Tip: Sometimes you can find some great things at Goodwill that just need a little TLC to help them become great things!  Keep that in mind if you find a great skirt that has a busted zipper or something.  That is a pretty easy fix and worth paying someone to mend it for you if you cannot do it yourself.

I didn't know he had taken this picture until I was editing.  Sweet boy:)!
