Day 81: Classic Navy and White

Top: GAP Outlet (white)
Shorts: Purchased from Dillard's Clearance Center (navy)
Flip flops: GAP (yellow)
Necklace: Origami Owl (silver)

Since we have been so busy the last few days, we decided to stay home today to chill and recuperate.   Normally, I would've worn sweat pants and my fav UT t-shirt (even though I graduate from an A&M school) to hang around the house in, but since I have a daily fashion blog, I am forced to wear real clothes every day.  I'm sure my husband will appreciate seeing me (once we live in the same state again) in clothes other than sweats on a daily basis;)

Today I am wearing a classic color combination, navy and white.  I love navy and white together because it is classic and nautical!

Navy and white, black and khaki, coral and mint, what are your favorite go to color combinations???

Day 80: Ocean Bound

Dress: Old Navy (black)
Cardi: Old Navy (tan)
Hat: Ron Jon (pink)
Flip flops: Reef (brown)

I don't really have an outfit to show y'all today because I took my boys to the beach all day (and I'm not posting a picture of myself in a swimsuit again;).  I did put cloths on for the drive home, so that is what I'll share today.

There is a lot going on in this picture.  We had just gotten home from the beach, the dogs were thrilled to see us and Arianna was excited to be home!

Here are a few pictures from our day trip today.

Chilling on the ferry to Shell Island

Thomas let me borrow his Weeblos hat for the day.  He is such a good Scout!!!

Day 79: Recycled Finds

Top: Purchased from Goodwill (white)
Jeans: LOFT, Purchased from a friend of mine
Sandals: Old Navy (gray)
Necklace: Gift from Mrs. Ingrid
Watch: Fossil (silver)
Bracelet: Tiffany (silver)
Earrings: Premier Designs (silver)

I LOVE this top!!!  It is old, based on the label.  I'm thinking early 90's or late 80's.  I love the button detail on the sleeves and the subtle silver design throughout the top (can you see it???).

These shoes are super fun!  I love the metallic stud detail!  Plus the fabric feels like ultra suede:)

Perfect summer outfit for running around in!  I ever got a complimented on the top by the cashier while shopping at the PX (Post Exchange).  I told her I bought the top at Goodwill and then we started a discussion on how awesome Goodwill is.  We then told each other stories about our best purchases.  I love sharing Goodwill stories and finding kindred spirits while out and about!!!

Day 78: Watermelon to Church;)

Dress: Given to me by a friend (thanks Zanne!) coral
Cardi: GAP Outlet (mint)
Sandals: TJ Maxx
Belt: Maurices (cream)

Ever since I read a blog comment that coral and mint look like watermelon together, I can't stop myself for thinking the exact same thing!  Good thing I LOVE watermelon;)

I love this frilly coral dress that was given to me by my very fashionable BCF (best Californian friend) Zanne.  I told Zanne that with her red hair she really shouldn't be wearing coral.  I did this jokingly and she turned around a few days later and gave me the dress.  I think it was too big for her (she is a skinny mini) and she had to pass it on to her curvier friend;)  Regardless of how I got it, I am glad I have it!!!

Of course, churches are always cold so I paired it with the only color I ever seem to pair with coral...mint (duh!).  I also can't ever seem to go without a belt so I added the frilliest belt I have.

The shoes were not my first choice.  I really wanted to wear my nude patent leather pumps, but with bad knees and carrying a baby around, I didn't want to risk falling and hurting myself or my baby.  If my husband were here to carry he baby for me, I would've rocked those pumps, no question!!!

And there it is folks!  I can't believe I've gone 78 days without shopping.  I have had to buy a couple of items to replace damaged items in my closet, but those items came from Target (sandals) and Goodwill (3 shirts and a skirt). Since I have been really having to look at everything in my closet, I have discovered that A LOT of my clothes had stains, holes, etc.  Plus, A LOT of pieces, that I have had forever, just don't fit me anymore.

That is why I am organizing a clothing swap at my house on August 10th from 1-3.  Bring your good condition clothes, shoes and accessories and swap with other guest!!!  I'll have many pieces from my closet (the good condition ones:).  Tell a friend and bring them along too.

Day 76 & 77: Weekend Get Away!

Day 76:
Top: GAP (white)
Shorts: GAP (denim)
Flip flops: Reef (black)
Fedora: Purchased from Walmart

Day 77:
Top: Purchased from Modcloth.com (black and white)
Shorts: GAP (pink)
Flip flops: Reef (black)

I went on a last minute trip with my kids to Birmingham, AL this weekend.  We had a blast and visited the Birmingham Zoo and the McWane Children's Science Museum.  We even stayed overnight in a hotel (fun for the kids, not so much for me).  Everyone did so well and we all had such a good time being with each other.

I was so busy taking pictures of the kids at the zoo, that I didn't get a full body shot of myself.  It was hot in Birmingham, so I kept my outfit cool and simple. The fedora was more for shade than for any fashion statement I may have been trying to make:)

Of course, it started raining when we were about 45 minutes away from home and was still raining a little bit after we got home.  The result is extremely muggy weather outside right now and limp hair for me.  After seeing this picture of myself, I am seriously rethinking skinny horizontal stripes with my body shape.  It is never a good thing to make already big things look bigger;)

Day 75: Not So Luau Ready

Dress: Walmart
Sandals: Old Navy (white)
Miscellaneous jewelry

My boys invited two of their friends (who happen to be brothers too) over to spend the day and night with us.  I decided to be very brave and took all 5 kids to the pool today.  Today was the first day in a very long time that we haven't had rain so we took advantage of it while we could.

Since the baby has a virus, the two of us couldn't get in the pool, but all four boys did.  They had a blast.  It was short lived though because the baby needed a nap and it was getting very hot for the two of us.

I tried to dress as cooly as I could, but I was still unbelievably hot!!!  And I was dressed more for a luau  than for a day at the pool:)

This is the third time I've worn this dress in the few years I have had it.  Believe it or not, the first two time I wore it were to luaus here in Alabama of all places!

My pups are just as shocked as I am to have dry weather today!

Tomorrow I am braving it yet again, and taking my three kids to Birmingham for a weekend trip.  I'll be staying overnight with them in a hotel by myself and everything.  I'm only telling you this because I will not have a blog entry for you tomorrow.  Instead, be sure to check out the Facebook page for my outfit of the day!  When I get home Saturday I will play catch up and post two days worth of outfits for you.

Happy Shopping,

Day 74: Rain, Rain Go Away

Dress: Maurice's (navy and white)
Sandals: Merona, Purchased from Target (camel)
Belt: Came with the dress (camel)
Earrings: Maurice's (gold studs)

I was finally able to take a picture outside without the presence of any rain!!!  That is a HUGE accomplishment these days!  Of course, it was thundering in the background, but no rain!!!

I did think it was appropriate to wear my nautical dress again, since it has been raining so much around here the last few days weeks months.  I wore this dress during the first week of this blog, only I wore it with yellow then, and now I am wearing camel brown.

WORD OF THE DAY:  VERSATILITY:)

I met with our adoption attorney this morning.  I wanted to be 'mommy' dressed up.  Still able to carry a baby without tripping (no high heels), able to bend over without flashing my booty to the world and comfortable (nothing binding or tight).  This dress is PERFECT for mommy duty!!!

I usually change my clothes as soon as I get home, but it is 8:17pm and I am still wearing this dress.  The belt and shoes are gone, but the dress remains on.  It feels like a gown (a fabulously fashionable gown;)

Day 73: Spa Night Out

Cardi: Target (gray)
Tank: Cynthia Rowley, Purchased at TJ Maxx
Jeans: GAP
Sandals: Target (black)
Bracelet: Premier Jewelry (black and silver)
Earrings: Altar'd State (black)

I was blessed to spend a few hours out tonight at the spa with my friends.  I had a great time and a much needed break away from the kiddos!

Yes, I am wearing my trusted boyfriend jeans...again!  I love these jeans!!!

I was able to enjoy a manicure, foot detox and eyebrow wax, all while goofing off with my friends.  Big thanks to Lindsey Redondo for inviting me out!!!  I had a blast and needed it more than you will ever know!

Day 72: Sweet Repeats!

Top: TJ Maxx
Jeans: LOFT
Sandals: Target (camel)
Bracelets:? (gold)
Earrings: Banana Republic (gold)

I told y'all on Day 70 that I would probably re-wear this outfit since I never got to leave my house in it.  It was just too cute an outfit to waste sitting around my house on a rainy day!  I didn't waste anytime!!!

I headed to Dothan with all my kids so we could get some dog supplies, and other miscellaneous items. While we were in the pet store (please excuse the pun!!!) it started raining cats and dogs.  A quick trip to the pet store ended with us hanging out in there for about an hour waiting for the first storm to pass (the second came 30 minutes later while we were in Toys R Us).  I decided I might as well kill two birds with one stone, so I had Thomas take my daily pictures while we were waiting around in the rodent department.

Nate had to get into the picture taking action:)

All in all it was a great day.  No one had a nervous break down, we arrived home safely and our dogs are now happy with their new toys.

Day 71: A Little Church, A Little Grocery Shopping and A Whole Lotta Rain!

Dress: Forever 21 (teal)
Cardi: Cremieux, Purchased from Dillard's (cream with gold sequence)
Sandals: Target (camel)
Cuff: Purchased at Dandy Lion Boutique (gold with minty octopus)
Belt: Simple Addition (camel)

This Sunday was like any other Sunday for me.  I got up and got us all ready for church.  Church was great and we headed to the grocery store afterwards in hopes of finishing all of our shopping before Arianna had her nap-time melt down.

As we were leaving the store, the rain started...AGAIN!  It was okay, because my BGF (best German friend) Tina and her family went grocery shopping with us (they had to buy groceries as well) and helped with with the kiddos.  Of course Nate needed to pee as I was checking out so Tina ushered the two boys to the bathroom, while I finished checking out and getting the baby and groceries to the car all while the rain was pouring down.  Oy Vey!!!

I LOVE the way the teal and camel look together!!!

I really don't like selfie mirror photos, but the house was soooo dark because of the storm, that we couldn't get a descent enough shot (as you can tell by the photo below).

You can't tell by looking at the above picture, but it looked like a tornado was about to bust up through my neighborhood.  It was pretty scary for a while there!

Everyone around here is pretty sick and tired of all the rain, myself included, but I have to remind myself of the blessings from God and that we are beyond blessed to be receiving all the rain that we are when so many other parts of America are in drought.

Happy Shopping,
Christin

Day 70: Yep, It's Raining Again!

Top: TJ Maxx
Jeans: LOFT
Sandals: Target
Earrings: Maurices

Another rainy day here in LA (lower Alabama).  I had grand ideas to grocery shop and run other errands, but the rain changed all my plans.  Instead of shopping, we stayed home and watched movies all day.

I did get dressed in between rain storms, hoping I'd be able to make it out of the house before the next one hit.  As soon as I started to put on my make-up, the rain started back.  I gave up!

Can you see how flooded my yard is???

By the way, these are my replacement sandals I had to buy since my puppy chewed up my other ones.

See you back tomorrow (hopefully under the sun)!

Day 69: One Step Closer!

Top: LOFT
Jean trousers: Target
Shoes: Baker's
Watch: Fossil
Earrings: Maurice's

Today was a wonderful day!  We signed our adoption paperwork!  Now we are one step closer to becoming a permanent family of 5.  All we have to do now is wait for the adoption hearing to be scheduled with the court.

I was told I needed to wear more prints.  Since I can't go out and buy any clothes, I am having re-wear some tops I have already worn for the blog.  Of course I am going to wear them all differently, but you will start seeing repeats.  Today, I wore this bright and colorful floral top with dressy jean trousers.  I LOVE these pants!!!  I purchased them at Target and they are super comfy and light.

I have had these shoes for almost 10 years!  I bought them at Baker's (do those stores still exist???).  They have been cast out to the shoe bin underneath my bed for a while now.  But, I still love these shoes and oink is always fabulous!

Day 68: Workout Ready (sorta)!

Cardi: Target (gray)
Tank: Old Navy (purple and blue)
Yoga pants: TJ Maxx (black)
Tennis shoes: Nike (pink)

Tonight was the last night of VBS at my church!!!  I had so much fun seeing all the kids and getting to have adult conversation between the hours of drop-off and pick-up!

Tonight, I had the great idea that I would go over to the community park and run/walk during my down time at VBS.  Like all great ideas, this one fell flat.  As soon as we were through with drop-off, we had loads more to do.  I'm still glad I wore my workout clothes since we were lifting heavy chairs and other odd jobs.

I know it isn't glamorous or anything, but this is what I wore today.  Maybe next time I post a picture of myself in workout clothes, I will have actually worked out:)

By the way...these shoes are AMAZING!!!

Day 67: Continuing My Coral Obsession

Top: Purchased from Goodwill (coral)
Jeans: LOFT, purchased from a friend
Shoes: Purchased from TJ Maxx (brown)
Bracelet: Purchased from Dandy Lion Boutique (mint octopus with gold stretch band)
Earrings: Purchased from Altar'd State (gold, red and turquoise)

I know, I know, I get on a color kick sometimes and I just can't help myself.  Right now I am in love with coral and all shades close to coral.  This tank is a pinker coral color.  I love it because it is a total 'old lady' top.  If I were to purchased a top like it on Modcloth.com, I would spend $30-40.  I'd venture to say that I spent $2 on this top.

I love the vintage feel of the whole outfit.  If I could, I'd wear a silk head scarf and really come off as vintage, but I can barely pull my bangs back with a bobby pin, so that isn't happening:)

Tomorrow, I promise to wear something other than coral.

Happy Shopping,
Christin

Day 66: Coral Love!

Cardi: Old Navy (tan and white)
Tank: Banana Republic (coral-ish)
Shorts: Purchased from Dillard's Outlet (navy)
Flip flops: Antonio Melanie, purchased from Dillard's Outlet (animal print)
Watch: Betsy Johnson (animal print)
Earrings: Maurice's (pink-y coral)

I am realizing I have a mild obsession with colors within the coral spectrum.  I looked like a watermelon on Day 60 (thanks for pointing that out to me hot momma:) and I have worn coral several times so far during this challenge.  Well, today I am continuing my coral obsession with this darker coral tank from Banana Republic.

For most of the day, I was in work out gear.  The kids and I walked several miles in the blazing hot sun today so we could go bowling.  Yes, we could've driven, but after trying on several things in my closet that were fitting extra snug today, I decided it was best if we walked.  I'm sure tomorrow I'll be sore, but right now I feel amazing.  Walking and bowling with the kids, put me in such a great mood for VBS tonight.

FYI, I'm still working at VBS, so for the rest of the week all my pictures will be taken in front of the 'castle' wall:)

Day 65: This Church is COLD!!!

Tank, Cardi and Jeans: GAP Outlet
Sandals: Merona, purchased from Target (teal/mint)
Necklace: Origami Owl
Bracelet: Purchased from Dandy Lion Boutique
Earrings: Maurice's

For most of the day, I wore just the tank with the jeans.  We are attending VBS at our church this week and my church is crazy cold so I knew that, while working the registration table, I would freeze (hence the cardi).

I love these jeans!  I've mentioned that before, right?!  They were great to wear all day while the kids and I had lunch, shopped a little and had fro-yo.  I stayed cool and comfy in this hot and muggy weather.  If you don't have a pair of boyfriend jeans yet, GET SOME!!!

Happy Shopping,
Christin

Day 64: 'Polka Dot' Dress, Day 2

Dress: Purchased from Modcloth
Cardi: GAP Outlet (yellow)
Shoes: Mossimo, purchased from Target (red)
Belt: Purchased from Target (red)
Bracelet and Earrings: Purchased from Dandy Lion Boutique (red)
Watch: Fossil (silver)
Sunglasses: Oscar de la Renta

I'm all about wearing something until it either smells or has stains.  With three kids and two dogs, it doesn't take long for my clothes to look gross, but I try to get as much wear out of my clothes before I wash them.  The reason is simple, the more you wash your clothes, the quicker they fade out, pill and thin.

So, today I wore my blue and white (sorta) polka dot dress to church.  I jazzed it up. like I said I would.

See the rain clouds in the background?  Yep, that's what we see EVERY day!!!

I added a cardi for church (because churches get COLD!).  I traded in the flip flops for red peep toe heels.  I added a belt (you all should know my loves for belts by now) and I added some red jewelry.

So there you have it.  One dress, dressed up and dressed down.  Make the most of what you have and always think of new ways to wear what is already hanging up in your closet.  I know I'm going to have to be very creative in order to make it through this whole year without shopping:)

Happy Shopping,

Day 63: Birthday Celebration

Dress: Purchased from Modcloth.com (blue and white)
Flip flops: GAP (yellow)
Earrings: Maurices (gold studs)
Bracelet: Purchased from The Dandy Lion Boutique (white)

I'm going to start off by telling you all that I am wearing this dress again tomorrow to church.  Of course I'll jazz it up a bit so I can show the versatility of the dress.  Plus, I love this dress and I want to wear it again (and again, and again).

Tonight I went to a one year old's birthday party.  His name is Austin and he belongs to my very special friends, Tina and Steve.

Isn't he precious!?

We were supposed to go to the pool after the party, but it being Alabama and all, it started raining...again, so no pool for us tonight:(  We still had a blast at the party and Tina and Steve did such a great job on everything!!!

This picture was taken outside after the party.  It is dark and pouring rain, so the picture didn't come out great but I still wanted to share it because I look so darn skinny:)  Sad, I know!

My face came out all weird and blurry for some reason so I just cropped it off.  This dress has sorta polka dots on it.  They aren't perfectly circular shapes, but close enough to be considered polka dots I guess.  There is also this awesome bow on the front, but you can't tell it is there:(

Check in tomorrow to see how I make this dress go from birthday party casual, to church ready!

Happy Shopping,
Christin

Day 62: VBS Kick-Off!

Top: Purchased at Ross (purple)
Shorts: GAP Outlet
Sandals: CL Chinese Laundry, Purchased from TJ Maxx (multi-color)
Necklace: Burkes Outlet
Earrings: NY and Co
Bracelets: Purchased from Gaudy Me in Longview, TX

Tonight was kick-off night for VBS at our church.  The kids enjoyed inflatables, face painting and snow cones.  I enjoyed letting them run all their energy out!  I was able to spend all day at the pool with my friends while the kids stayed home with a baby sitter.  This freckle faced brunette got burnt to a crisp.  I'm sure you'll be able to see the effects of minimal sunscreen applications on my poor, red legs.

As you can tell, our VBS has a castle theme:)  I spent a good portion of my Sunday afternoon sticking painted pizza boxes to the church foyer walls.

And just in case you are wondering...Yes!, my legs hurt as bad as they look.

Happy Shopping,

Day 61: A Mighty, Mighty Wind

Dress: Wal-Mart (navy blue)
Tights: Target (black)
Sandals: Old Navy (black)
Jewelry: Burkes Outlet and Boutique purchase (silver)

There are two versions of today's outfit because as soon as I stepped outside today, the wind nearly blew my dress up over my head.  Since I didn't feel like fighting with the wind all day,  I did what I hate and I added leggings to my dress.  Not the most fashionable thing in the world, but I was pressed for time and didn't feel like ironing anything.

I promise this dress is navy blue!

Can you tell by all the shadows that the sun is setting?

I also wanted to share with you all that I had to make a clothing purchased today.  If you follow the FB page, then you already saw the picture of my favorite brown sandals.  Sadly, our new puppy decided they'd make a nice chew toy and he chewed off a lot of the decorative studs.  Now the threading is all loose and I can no longer wear them.  I went online and purchased a new pair of brown and black sandals.

The black sandals I have on today are on their last leg.  I sprayed sunscreen on these black sandals last summer and now they are all splotchy and the soles are wearing out.   Since Target was having a buy one get one 50% off sale online (if you use your RED Card!), I jumped on the opportunity to retire these sad little sandals before they too, became chew toys.

Happy Shopping,
Christin

Day 60: Two Months Down!

Top: Banana Republic, Purchased from Goodwill (coral)
Shorts: GAP Outlet (mint)
Belt: Purchased from Goodwill (brown braided leather)
Sandals: TJ Maxx (brown)
Necklace: Purchased from Altar'd State (red, turquoise and gold)
Earrings: Purchased from Maurices (turquoise and gold)

I love the whole mint and coral trend probably more than I should!  I think these two colors are absolutely gorgeous together!  So, of course, I am going to combine my coral linen top with my mint shorts.

This is A LOT of color for me!  I'm not too sure what I think about this as an outfit, but I guess that is part of this whole one year no shopping challenge.  Mixing and matching items in my wardrobe to make outfits.  Sometimes it will work and sometimes it won't.

So what do you think???

Happy Shopping,
Christin

Day 59: Couponing It Up!

Top: Old Navy (black and white)
Shorts: GAP Outlet (pink)
Shoes: GAP (black)
Watch: Philip Stein (black leather band and silver double face)
Bracelet: Tiffany (left arm)
Bracelet: Boutique purchased (right arm)
Earrings: Premiere Designs (silver)
Necklace: Kay's Jewelers Open Heart Collection (diamond)
Sunglasses: Oscar de la Renta (tortoise)

Another productive day in my household!  I love it when I don't spend all day in the house watching TNT (really, I will do that!).  I had a Mommy and son day today with my boys.  We had lunch together and enjoyed the sunny day.  Tonight, I went to a Coupon Boot Camp at my church.  I am still a little over whelmed by all the information I was given, but I am sure I will eventually learn all this couponing stuff!

Tonight after Boot Camp, I had my bGf (best German friend) Tina, take my pictures at the church.  It is so nice to have an adult take my pictures every once in a while!!!

Tina wanted the Wounded Warrior to be on my shoulder.  She is so goofy!

Again, the Wounded Warrior is on my shoulder.  I thought it was funny at first, but if you think about it, we should all be carrying those who have fought for our country on our shoulders.  We should make their burdens, our burdens.  We should carry their hurt, pain, joy and life with us at all times.  Do me a favor and thank a Vet for their service!  I love that my church has this hanging up in the corridor.  I am so blessed to be a member of a church family that loves and supports our Service Members!

Day 58: Productive Monday

Top: Purchased from Dandy Lion Boutique (coral)
Jeans: LOFT (denim dark wash)
Shoes: TJ Maxx (brown)
Watch: Betsy Johnson, Purchased from Belk (animal print and gold)
Earrings: Altar'd State (coral, gold and turquoise)
Belt: Purchased form Goodwill (brown braided leather)

I awoke bright and early this morning (6am to be exact) so I could get several things accomplished today.  My Army ID card expired yesterday so I had to get a new one ASAP.  Luckily, I had to foresight to make an appointment with the ID office on post for 8am this morning.  Usually, people have to wait 1-6 hours to get a new ID made (crazy, right!?).  I got as cute as I could and got the kids somewhat presentable and headed out the door.

I really love this watch!  It is adorable!!!!

Yes, these are the same jeans I wore twice last week.  I promise I do have more than one pair of jeans in my closet.  In fact, I have a pair just like these in my closet, but they are stiff and I like these better.

Question: What is that one item in your closet that you know you can always turn to to wear in a crunch?  For me, it is obviously these jeans.  I wear them all the time.  Let me know by leaving a comment here or on the FB page.

Day 57: Church and Killer Shoes!

Top: Banana Republic
Slacks: Target
Shoes: Rampage
Jewelry: Purchased from Ingrid's Jewelers (bracelet, ring and necklace)
Watch: Fossil

The title is 'Church and Killer Shoes', because I thought these shoes were going to kill me!  A few years ago I had surgery on both of my knees (the surgeries were 11 months apart from each other). Ever since then, I have had a hard time walking in heels and honestly, probably shouldn't be wearing them at all.  But, I love heels and where them whenever I can.  Today though, with all the rain and the arthritis in my knees acting up (yes, I know, I am old) I had a really hard time walking in these shoes.  I didn't keep them on for very long and before church was even over, I gave them away to my BGF (best German friend) Tina.  She can rock some high heels!  In fact she wore platform silver glitter heels to church today.  We don't normally wear the same size shoe, buy lucky for her, these fit.  They weren't my favorite shoes anyways so I am glad they are in a home where they will be loved (and worn).

I'm not normally a big fan of wrap tops or dresses (solely because half the time I can't figure them out).  This top is easy, comfy and colorful.  I've had it for years and hardly ever wear it because it makes my boobs look ginormous!  Ugh!  Oh well, I guess God gave me these for a reason:).

The ring was a gift from my husband.  I had this ring (blue diamonds fyi) on lay-a-way for a few months, but felt bad for spending so much money, so I had it taken off lay-a-way.  Of course Jason bought it for me for Christmas which totally shocked me!  He is so sweet.  He bought the matching necklace and gave it to me at his Change of Command (sorry, Army talk).  He gave it to me for supporting him while he was in command.

The bracelet was a gift from Mrs. Ingrid of Ingrid's Jewelers.  She is the sweetest lady ever!!!  If you're ever in Daleville, AL stop by and see her.
