Day 112: Pikes Peak

Top: Purchased from Walmart
Pants: GAP

Today we drove to the top of Pikes Peak.  It was BEAUTIFUL!!!  I took as many pictures as I could, but I ended up getting really carsick about halfway up and had to close my eyes for most of the trip.  Once we were at the top, I couldn't look over the ledge because I felt so nauseous, so my sweet handsome hubby took pictures for me.  My boys were sick too due to the high altitude so we will definitely have to make another trip back up the mountain once we acclimate to the altitude!

Jason bought me the stuffed moose I'm posing with today at the gift shop on top of the summit (I named him Pike, original right?!).  I have a weird obsession with moose and I am dying to see one out in the wild!!!  I was told the best place to see a moose around here is the zoo, lol!

Day 111: New Hair Cut Jig!

Top: Purchased from Dandy Lion Boutique
Jeans: LOFT
Flats: GAP

I had a chance to visit our local salon/spa today.  I was treated to a much overdue haircut, manicure and pedicure.  I am very happy with how it all came out.  I am also happy that today's picture looks great and my outfit is pretty cute:)

My clothes should be here next week (fingers crossed).  I have been coming up with mental outfits while I've been waiting for the rest of my clothes to arrive.  I hope the outfits look as good on my body as they do in my head!

Oh, and what do you think about my new hair-do?

Happy Shopping,

Day 110: I Didn't Forget

Top: GAP (black)
Shorts: GAP (purple)
Flip flops: Marc by Marc Jacobs (black)

I didn't forget to write a blog post yesterday!  I just got very busy and was too worn out to post anything.  We had a Battalion Org Day so I spent part of my day in the heat watching Jason play in a softball tournament.  I also had lunch with a friend I hadn't seen in three years.  All in all, it was a great busy day!

Day 109: At Least I Have My Shorts

Top: Old Navy
Shorts: GAP
Flip flops: GAP

Even though I am missing the majority of my wardrobe (our shipment should be here Sept. 3rd) at least I have all my shorts.  There is always a bright side to every situation if you look for it!

But I am VERY ready to have the rest of my things!!!

I bought this top on a whim because I was out and about and realized the top I had on had a stain and a hole and needed to be replaced ASAP.  I'm glad I bought this top though.  The polka dots are pink, navy blue and yellow so this top will go with just about anything.  I wanted to wear my pink shorts today, but I can;t find them:(  I guess they are somewhere in the second shipment?

Oh, and that Acadia in the background, yep, that is the same one that has had to have two new engines in the last month and a half!

Hopefully it will be gone by this weekend and replaced with a nice new minivan!

Be sure to check out and see if your favorite stores are having Labor Day sales this weekend!!!  And be sure to remember those who serve and have served our country while you are getting those great shopping deals!

Happy Shopping,
Christin

Day 108: Work Out Ready!

Top: GAP
Pants: GAP
Tennis Shoes: Nike

I worn work out clothes today and actually worked out!  Yay me!!!  I walked all the way to the boys school today and picked them up.  It was about a mile walk (if not more) and HOT!!!  I have a bit of a sunburn to prove it.

I love these shoes!  They are so comfortable!!!

On a side note, I am getting my hair cut on friday.  I am cutting off the mullet back and hoping to get something youthful and fun.  I welcome any suggestions anyone has!  I don't want to go short.  I am trying to grow my hair out long enough to put in a pony, but I have to get this back cut off ASAP before Billy Ray Cyrus tries to claim me as his daughter;)

Day 107: School's Back in Session!

Top: Banana Republic, Purchased from Goodwill (white)
Shorts: Purchased from Dillard's Outlet (navy blue)
Flip flops: GAP (yellow)
Silver accessories

The boys started back to school today.  Their school has already been in session for three weeks, but for them, today was their first day.  They had a blast at their new school and have already made friends.  I am so glad that I have such resilient, easy going, friendly kids!!!

I worn my version of a white button up today.  I love this top because it feels like a white button up without being one.  No collar, no cuffs, no tucking.  I love it!!!  Of course, white is perfectly paired with navy blue and I just so happen to have a pair of navy blue shorts.  I could've worn white sandals, but I opted to wear my yellow flip flops for a little touch of color.  Plus,  really love navy blue, white and yellow together.

Day 106: I Made Due!

Tank: ? (purple)
Shrug: Maurices (black)
Skirt: Old Navy
Sandals: Old Navy
Earrings: Gift
Necklace: Burkes Outlet
Watch: Fossil

I really didn't think I'd be able to find anything to wear to church today, but I did!  All I have in my closet is what I packed and my winter sweaters and jackets (I'll share a picture f my bare closet tomorrow).  Luckily for me, I had my black shrug in my winter box!!!  I also had packed this tank that I normally wear under sheer tops.  I decided to put it all together and I think it looks church appropriate.  I actually think it looks really cute:)  I also brought all of my jewelry with me so I should at least be able to accessorize well.

The great thing about this skirt is that it is neutral and can be worn with a variety of colors.  I am so glad I packed this tank!!!  If I hadn't, I would had really been in trouble today.

Note to self: In the future pack items that can be easily interchangeable!!!

Question: How do you pack for a trip?  Do you pack one outfit per day or do you pack items that can be easily mixed and matched?

Day 105: Blue Busy Bee

Top: GAP (navy blue)
Jeans: GAP
Sandals: Old Navy
Bracelet: Purchased from Dandy Lion Boutique
Earrings and Necklace: From Ingrid's Jewelers

We finished unpacking all the boxes we have today, bought all of Thomas and Nathaniel's school supplies, made a run to Costco and Safeway and picked up my Acadia from the shop (did I mention the motor blew out again and had to be replaced, again???).  Basically, we have been very busy!

I wore my favorite GAP boyfriend jeans today (because it is one of two pairs of pants I currently have with me) and my adorable crochet navy blue GAP tank.  Perfect outfit for running errands and unpacking!  Not as comfy as my Texas Tee and sweats, but comfy nonetheless!

I wish I could really show you all the detail this top has!  It is very pretty and delicate.  I like little details like this top has.  It is better than just wearing a basic blue tank.

I rolled the jeans very slightly since I always seem to wear these jeans as capris.  They are actually very long jeans and have to be rolled up unless I'm wearing boots.

And of course, nothing looks better with navy blue than white!  I accented with pearl stud earrings (pearls are always appropriate:), a silver watch, a white bangle and a silver and opaque necklace.

Y'all pray for me because I am getting really tired of not having any clothes!  Tomorrow we have church and I have NOTHING to wear.  The two dresses I packed and wore on the trip to CO aren't what I would normally wear to church.  So far I have no idea what I am going to wear.  Any ideas???

Happy Shopping,
Christin

Day 98-104: I Finally Have A Computer AND Internet!!!

Day 98

Dress: Old Navy (black)
Necklace: Origami Owl
I added a purple bandeau bra under the maxi for coverage:)

Our first full day of traveling.  I am keeping with the maxi trend again today by wearing this super comfy maxi dress.  I could just live in maxi's!!!

Day 99

Top: Unknown brand, Purchased from Goodwill (coral)
Jeans: GAP
Sandals: Merona, Purchased from Target (black)

I'm not really sure what is up with the way I am standing?!  I didn't share this picture on Facebook because I thought I looked like  was like, "Hey, wassup!?".  Anyways, we took this picture while driving through the Kaw Nation in Oklahoma.  I happen to be of Cherokee descent (my fifth great-grandmother was Mourning Dove-Medley, her father was the tribal Chief). Unfortunately, we didn't have to stop for gas while driving through the Cherokee Nation so I could snap a photo.

Day 100

Top: Purchased from TJ Maxx (mint and coral polka dots)
Jeans: GAP
Sandals: Merona (black)

This picture was taken late at night after we arrived to our hotel room.  We were all cranky and tired.  The lighting was awful so I apologize for the terrible picture!  You've seen this top and jeans a few times already during my 365 day challenge.  FYI, we were in Kansas this night.

Day 101

Top: Old Navy (multi-color polka dots)
Jeans: LOFT
Sandals: Merona (black)

So, remember how I told y'all I had to throw away my yellow top???  Well it happened on this day.  I was wearing said top, while out exploring Colorado Springs (oh yea, we made it...HOORAY!!!).  I look down and there is not only a hole, but also a big red stain!  I had a lot to do and I didn't feel like walking around all day in hole-y stained clothes.  What I am trying to say is that while I was in Old Navy buying some school shirts for my boys, I bought this top too.  It was on sale and went with what I already had on.  I changed as soon as I bought the top and trashed the ruined shirt.  Please forgive me for 'shopping'!

Day 102

Dress: Purchased from Consignment C.A.T. (green and cream stripes)
Sandals: Merona (brown)
I added a brown bandeau bra for coverage

The movers came today to unload our HHG's (household good's).  I did my part by getting the kids out of the house (and out of the way).  I decided to take them to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.  This zoo was absolutely gorgeous, but I missed a very important piece of the name...Mountain!  Yes, this zoo is built on the side of a mountain.  Do you see what I am wearing???  Yep, not conducive for walking up a mountain while pushing a stroller (plus it is HOT here!).  Needless to say, we skipped parts of the zoo that were further up the mountain.  Lesson learned!!!  Next time I will wear tennis shoes and bring the husband so he can push the stroller:)!

Day 103

Top: Purchased from Gaudy Me (black and white)
Jeans: LOFT
Sandals: Merona (black)
Necklace: Gift from Mrs. Ingrid of Ingrid's Jewelers
Bracelet: Cookie Lee

I shopped til I dropped today...for furniture:)  Jason took the kids to run errands with him all day while I had the whole day to myself to shop for household items that we needed.  I managed to buy almost everything we need for our new house in one day.  I even went to Ikea and got loads of cute household items.  Once I get my house 100% set-up I will share pictures with all of you!!!

I still don't have the bulk of my clothes.  Our first moving van got full fast (it was already 75% full with other peoples stuff when they arrived) so they had to get a second moving van to pick up the other half of our belongings.  Of course, that second shipment is still in Alabama and isn't expected to arrive until August 30th!  So, in the meantime, you'll be seeing me re-wear a lot of the same pieces of clothing because it is all I have.

Jason keeps telling me to go buy clothes, but I know I can make due with what I have.  I'll just have to be creative when mixing the pieces I do have with me.  That's what this blog is all about anyways:)!!!

Day 104

Top: Old Navy
Sweat Pants: Purchased from Target (gray)

A friend once told me I should wear a sweat suit one day and make it look fabulous.  I told her that was impossible.  Not that I'm saying there aren't cute sweatsuits out there, but when I do wear sweats, I look like a typical worn out momma that just doesn't have time to worry about putting on real clothes.

Today was our first major unpack boxes day.  We really want to get all of the boxes we do have unpacked before the second shipment of boxes are delivered (hopefully next week).  Today we busted it out and got every box unpacked except for a few in Arianna's room.

Needless to say, I didn't get dressed up today at all!  In fact, I am wearing what I normally wear everyday as soon as I get home from wherever I've been and change clothes.  My friends usually see me in this when we are hanging out at my house eating pizza and watching movies.

Ready?

I can't believe I am posting this!

Okay, here it is...

Yep, I wear this all the time!  It is my lounging around the house uniform and the perfect outfit to wear while unpacking half of your house!

And just let me clarify, I am not a Texas Longhorns fan.  I am not any football teams fan.  I have A LOT of Texas pride and while I was living in Alabama I decided to be rebellious and wear this shirt out and about (which is really dangerous because Alabama fans are CRAZY about their football:)!!!

So, there you have it.  This is probably my favorite thing every in the whole wide world to wear!  It isn't cute, isn't stylish, isn't anything special, but I love it and I'll continue to wear it every night before I go to bed even after it is stained and hole-y.

Happy Shopping,
Christin

Day 97: Moving Day 1 - UPDATE!!!

Top: Banana Republic (yellow)
Skirt: Old Navy (black and white)
Sandals: Merona, Purchased from Target

First day of moving is complete! We drive a whole hour and a half to Montgomery, AL.  That was the plan all along because we knew we'd be exhausted and wouldn't want to drive far.

Like my little accessory?  He is the cutest little thing.

I love this maxi skirt and it is perfect to wear while riding long hours in the car.  My husband likes to keep the car cold so I have to dress in layers when riding with him.  This skirt is perfect for keeping warm.  Plus it is just flat out comfortable.

I ended up having to throw this top away the other day:(  It had a hole on the front and there wasn't anyway for me to fix it or hide it.  I'm on the look out for a replacement top since this is the only top I have that looks good with this skirt.

Question:  What kind of top would you wear with this skirt???

Day 96: I Shouldh've Packed More Clothes!!!

Top: a.n.a, Purchased from JCP (black)
Jeans: LOFT
Sandals: Merona, Purchased from Target (black)
Necklace: Origami Owl
Earrings: Maurices (pink)

Yesterday the movers came for first day of a two day pack job.  I was gone ALL day.  I had no idea what to expect when I arrived home!  I was very surprised that my entire closet was completely packed away.  I would think that packers would wait until the last day to pack closets, but I guess not.  Oh well!  The only problem is that when I woke up this morning, I had nothing to wear!  Yes, I packed clothes for the trip, but I didn't pack anything extra for the two days we'd still be here with the packers.  I have three outfits packed for the road trip and another week's worth of clothes to wear until our household goods arrive late next week.  Plus, Jason had moved our big suitcase, with all he extra clothes in it, downstairs.  So, I had to dig through my little suitcase and pull out today's top and I had to re-wear yesterday's jeans.  No big deal!

I guess I'm a fan of the rolled up jeans look.  I promise that I'll branch out:)!!!

I apologize for this picture being so dark.  It is about 9:30 at night and we just arrived home.  It is dark and rainy outside and the only place around with decent lighting is my garage which is packed full of boxes.  Let's all leave a comment for my husband Jason about how he needs to buy me a Nikon D3100 ASAP!!!  Thanks in advance!

Day 95: Yes, More Coral and Mint, But I'm Not Alone

Top: Purchased from TJ Maxx (coral and mint)
Jeans: LOFT
Sandals: Merona, Purchased from Target (mint)
Earrings: Maurice's (pink)

I am typing tonight's post using my iPhone. My computer is packed up somewhere and this is my only option.

Tonight I went out with my best friends here. These three girls have been my rocks for the last few months and saying goodbye to them is very, very difficult for me!!!

We met up to eat at Oak and Olive in Dothan, AL. What is funny is that Michele had on a mint chiffon top, Tina had on a coral chiffon top and I had on a coral and mint chiffon top. Barbara didn't coordinate, but she just so happened to order a watermelon cocktail (coral and mint look like watermelon) so in the end we all matched:). It wasn't planned, but that's how good friends are, we think a like!

Day 94: More Goodbyes

Top: Miley Cyrus (I know!), Purchased from Walmart
Jeans: Banan Republic (Purchased when I graduated from college thank you very much!)
Shoes: Nine West (purple suede)

Tonight I said goodbye to some friends at church.  I am VERY sad to leave my Grace Place family!!!  This is the hardest part of Military life.  Saying goodbye to friends that are like family and places that you love like home.  But the great part about Military life is that I get to make new friends and fall in love with new places.  I am excited to see where this next step in our life's journey will take us!!!

I can't believe that I am admitting this, but this is a Miley Cyrus (when she was still sweet and innocent)  top.  I actually have a few Miley Cyrus tops from Walmart.  She had some really cute pieces.

The jeans were purchased during my college graduation shopping spree in Dallas, TX.  I graduated from Tarleton State University (a Texas A&M school) December 19, 2005.  This was also my son Thomas' second birthday:)  Anyways, I went on this big shopping spree and I bought these jeans from Banana Republic.  These were the most expensive jeans I had ever bought (and still are aside from my skinny Lucky's).  Goes to show how far a good quality pair of jeans can go!!!  Jeans are one of those staple pieces every gal needs in her wardrobe.  Instead of buying loads of cheaper jeans, invest in a couple of pairs of really good quality jeans.  These are dark wash boot cut jeans.  The wash is classic and the cut is perfect for wearing boots (duh!) and heels.  Don't go out and spend lots of money on trendy jeans.  And yes, skinny jeans are a trend!  So are jeans with jewels all over them and jeans that sit right above your butt crack (yes I said it).  If you are worried about your panties or butt crack showing when you squat or bend over, guess what, your pants are too low.  DON'T BUY THEM!!!

Enough of the rant.  On to the shoes.  My sis-in-law, Chesley bought me these shoes one year for my birthday (I think).  She purchased them from TJ Maxx.  They are Nine West and purple suede with a gold buckle.  Plus, they have a super pointy toe.  I LOVE THEM!!!  They are never leaving my closet.  You'll see me wearing these bad puppies when I am 90 and no longer able to walk.  I'll just wear them with my night gown and be happy.

So, there you have it!  I covered a broad spectrum of clothing today.  The shirt came from a mega discount chain, the shoes came from a discount retailer and the jeans came from a high end (high end for me anyways) retail chain.  Goes to show you can mix the old with the new and the cheap with the expensive.  No matter if you spent $5 or $500 on an item, wear it like you are a princess and no one will be able to tell!

Happy Shopping,
Christin

Day 93: We Are Officially A Family Of 5!!!

Dress: Vera Wang, Purchased from Kohl's
Shoes: Gianni Bini, Purchased from Dillard's (navy blue)
Bracelet: Gift from Mrs. Ingrid at Ingrid's Jewelers (white pearls)
Earrings: Maurices (pink)

As of 2pm this afternoon we officially became a family of 5!  Arianna is officially a James and we couldn't be happier.  God has blessed us so much!  Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers during this (very long) adoption journey!!!

Now, I have a confession to make.  Last week I purchased a really cute dress for Arianna to wear to her adoption hearing.  It was navy blue and coral.  I even found coral shoes to match!  Anyways, I felt that the occasion called for Mommy and daughter to match.  Since I had $20 Kohl's cash burning a hole in my pocket, I headed to Kohl's Sunday afternoon to find a dress that would match Arianna's.  I found this great Vera Wang dress on sale for $23.00.  Since I had $20 Kohl's cash, I'd basically get the dress for free.  So, I bought the dress.

I don't consider this breaking the rules since it is for a special occasion and I will forever associate this dress with one of the greatest days of my life.  Clothing holds memories for me and this dress will always remain in my closet as a token from the day our family was complete.

As you can see, Arianna is wearing her pajamas.  It just so happens, we found out this morning that Arianna didn't need to be at the adoption hearing.  Weird, right?!  Anyways, since the hearing was schedule to happen right in the middle of nap time, we decided to let Arianna stay at home with our babysitter.  So the search for a coordinating dress was not necessary at all.  However, all is not lost;)  I am planning for us to have family portraits made once we are settled in Colorado.  Our colors will be navy blue and coral.  Swoon!  Have I mentioned how much I love coral???

(Oh, and side note, I am actually wearing this dress backwards.  I thought it looked better that way)

In total I spent $3.49  ($1.49 was paid for using quarters;) for this dress.  Not bad!  Plus it was totally worth breaking the rules for this super special day!

Happy Shopping,
Christin

Day 92: Our Last Sunday in Alabama:(

Dress: Antonio Melanie (Red)
Cardi: Cremieux (cream with gold sequence)
Shoes: Antonio Melanie (gold)
Earrings: Banana Republic (gold)

Today was our last Sunday at The Grace Place Church (if the adoption goes through tomorrow).  I am very sad because we will never find another church like The Grace Place, plus we have made so many friends there.  I will miss each and every one of you when we leave!!!

Today I wore this amazing, silky, Antonio Melanie dress that I purchased from the Dillard's outlet center in Montgomery, AL.  If you haven't been yet...you need to go!!!

I normally wear a belt with this dress, but I decided I need a break from belts for a little while;).  I paired the dress with this amazing Cremieux cardi that I purchased from the same Dillard's outlet center as the dress.  The shoes were purchased years ago from a regular Dillard's and back then I am sure I paid...get ready for a bad word...RETAIL!!!  I know, I know!  I have no idea what every prompted me to pay retail for things, but that was a long time ago and those dark days are far behind me!

My BGF (best German friend), Tina, is wearing a fabulous outfit from Maurices.  She told me she was going to be on the blog today since it is our last Sunday at church together:(  I'm going to miss this girl more than words can express!  I love you Tina!!!

Okay, tears are starting to happen.  Back on to happier things.

Day 91: Hubby's Coming Home!!!

Top: LOFT
Jeans: LOFT
Sandals: Merona, Purchased from Target
Bracelet and Earrings: Purchased from Dandy Lion Boutique
Necklace: Purchased from Etsy

I'm doing a happy dance because my husband is coming home tonight!!!  His plane will be in at 7:30 and we can't wait!  Not only are we excited to see him, but we are also excited because his arrival is just another step closer to finalizing our adoption (which will hopefully happen on Monday!!!).

I know, I know...more coral and mint.  I can't help myself!!!  I love these two colors together.  They are the perfect summer combination and since summer is winding down, I need to wear these colors as much as possible.  Before too long, I'll be back in my Autumn staples of boots, jeans and sweaters:)  Plus, I'm moving to Colorado next week and no telling what the weather is like up there right now.

Day 89: 'Are You Going To A Meeting Or Something?'

Top: GAP (emerald)
Skirt: GAP, Purchased at The Fort Rucker Thrift Shop (black and white)
Shoes: GAP (black)
Bracelet: Purchased at The Nature Gallery (red)
Earrings: They were my mom's (black onyx)

I pictured this outfit in my head and hoped it would look good on.  Do you ever do that?  You get an outfit idea in you head and think, 'Oh, that will be so cute!', then you put the outfit on and you look like the garbage pile on 'Fragile Rock'???  Happens to me all the time!

Not today!  Today I think the image in my head looked just as good in real life.  WooHoo!  I desperately needed to venture away from wearing shorts or jeans again, so I decided to wear this skirt (for the first time) and this top (that I've had FOREVER!!!).

I had lunch with my friend Barbara today and she asked, 'Do you have a meeting or something?'.  I guess I don't dress up enough;)

I love the ruffles on this top.  It is so feminine and the color is GREAT!!!

The best part of this outfit is how comfortable it is.  I've been running around all day and I still have lots to do and I've managed to keep this outfit on all day.  That is a HUGE accomplishment;)!!!

Day 88: Bringing Out The Old

Dress: Old Navy (brown)
Tank Old Navy (turquoise)
Sandals: Merona, Purchased from Target (gold)
Necklace??? (turquoise)

I can't even tell you how long I have had this dress.  I know I had it while I was pregnant with Nathaniel (he is almost 6) because I wore it while I was pregnant.  And, NO, this isn't a maternity dress.

This dress is great because it is very forgiving if you have a few extra inches around your waist you'd like to disguise :)!

This dress it great, too, because it looks great with loads of colors.  I personally love brown and turquoise together and have always worn this dress like this.

What colors would you wear with this dress?

My Closet Style 365 Special Report

I promised style advice so here goes.

How to wear animal print 101:

1.  Animal print is a neutral.

Meaning that it can be worn with any other color.  If you treat animal print as a neutral, you'll have many more styling options!

Example:
Yesterday, I wore these animal print flats with jeans and a beaded burgundy top.  I could also wear these flats with coral, green, orange, yellow, brown, cream, black, red, navy and much more!

2.  Wear touches of animal print to our outfit with your accessories.

This Betsy Johnson watch is gold with an animal print band.  It is subtle and adds a special touch to any outfit.  I wear it with the above colors.  You could wear an animal print belt, carry an animal print hand bag (just PLEASE don't carry a fuzzy animal print purse!!!) or wear jewelry (in moderation) that has animal print.  Shoes, purses, scarves and belts are really the way to go if you are wanting to add subtle animal print touches to your wardrobe!

3.  Don't wear animal print head to toe!

I added an animal print cardi to this outfit, just for a little touch of something extra.  I would NOT wear this cardi with animal print shoes or while carrying an animal print purse.  That is just too much animal print.  Plus, you don't want to go around looking like the actually animal do you???

 4.  Be careful when wearing animal print dresses!  Stay classy people!

Yes:
I know you can't see the full dress, but it is a wrap dress in a black and white giraffe (?) print.  It has long sleeves and goes to mid calf.  Classy and stylish!

No:

Let me just make this very clear, I do not own this dress!  This was a few years ago and I was 'modeling' this dress for a fashion show.  This is a prime example of too much animal print.  If you are going to wear a cheetah print dress in the brown color pallet, please break it up!  Wearing cheetah print head to toe, is too much.  Wear a cheetah print skirt and a solid top or a cheetah print top and solid skirt.

Question:  How do you wear animal print?  What rules do you follow when wearing animal print?

Day 87: A Lot of Running Around For Nothing;)

Top: Nordstroms Rack (burgundy)
Jeans: Loft
Flats: I don't remember where I bought these:) (animal print)

The kids and I did A LOT of running around today and got absolutely NOTHING accomplished (but at least I look cute).

First: I needed to arrange for packers and movers to come out next week.  That didn't happen.  Apparently everything is arranged via internet now and showing up at the Transportation office is a waste of time

Second: I needed to get copies of the kids' Blue cards (shot records).  But because of the furlough, the wait would've been FOREVER so I submitted a form and should be called (yea right) when they are ready for pick up.

Third: A part on my car broke (NEVER going to buy a GMC Acadia again!!!).  I had to take it to the dealership (they know me by name now) and they have to order a part.  The best (sarcasm) part is that I get to pay for the part and labor myself.

That is all.  Needless to say, we were all exhausted by the end of the day.  But, on the plus side, my kids were GREAT, I finished the laundry, I vacuumed and I managed to make dinner.

Day 86: Back To School Shopping

Top: The Limited (teal)
Shorts: Old Navy (black)
Flip flops: Antonio Melani (animal print)

We are moving soon (if everything goes well at next week's adoption hearing) so I'm not sure when or where the kids will start school.  If the adoption hearing gets pushed back, they will have to start here in Alabama.  If the adoption hearing happens then they will start in Colorado (which has already started in some districts).  Regardless of all that, we went school clothes shopping today.  Old Navy had a great $10 sale on all boys jeans, so I scored big time!!!

Can you tell I'm double jointed???  Not sure why I turned my foot so far backwards.  Weird!

I have to admit, that while I was shopping for the boys, I REALLY wanted to shop for myself!!!  I miss shopping!  I miss scoring great deals on clothes for myself.  I miss the thrill of wearing something you just bought for the first time.  I just miss the whole thing.  But, I made a commitment and writing this blog daily has helped A LOT!  Thanks to everyone who reads it!  A big thanks to those of you who post encouraging comments on here or the FB page!  It really helps me stay strong and not give in to the temptation of shopping!

Day 84: Beach Trip #2

Dress: Purchased from The Consignment CAT

I took my boys and my sister-in-law to the beach in Destin, FL today.  We had a blast playing in the water and the sand!!!  I hate to, once again, have to show you all a picture of myself in a swimsuit cover up, but we are trying to get as much beach time in as possible before we move.

This picture is extra special though because I am posing with my boys.

This is actually a dress and not a cover up.

Today was our last trip to the beach before we move.  Our adoption hearing is next Monday and as soon as the judge signs the adoption order and household goods are packed up, we are moving.  I've enjoyed our 4 1/2 years at Fort Rucker, but I am ready to start our next adventure!

Day 83: Getting Ready For A Visitor!!!

Cardi: GAP Outlet (pink)
Tank: Old Navy (green with pink flowers)
Jeans: GAP Outlet
Sandals: Merona, Purchased from Target (gold)
Earrings: Maurices (pink)

Today, we have been busy cleaning the house getting ready for our first visitor since we moved in late May.  Jason's sister, Kim, is coming for a visit and the kids and I are super excited!!!  We haven't seen her in a year.  That's what happens when you are in the Military.  Seeing family becomes a once a year thing, if that.

Anyways,  we are heading to the beach again tomorrow.  Please say a prayer that I remember to wear sunblock;)!!!
